How We Do Business

S&R will come out and look at your job at no charge to you, and our initial estimate will be free. Following the estimate, if we proceed to the design phase, some costs may be incurred.

If you need drawings we can provide them or refer you to an experienced draftsman. When plans are extensive, S&R relies on the experienced draftsmen at Marling Lumber.

We will also assist you with selecting quality products that will compliment your house. Choosing quality products will enhance the beauty and durability of your project, and will add value to your home in the long run.

Unlike most contractors, our estimate price is locked-in and always honored. Unless you are notified that the costs may vary, the estimate price is the final price.

When a project is underway and we uncover unexpected hurdles, cost over-runs can occur. S&R will work hard with you to minimize the extra costs. Some contractors will use over-runs as a chance to overcharge you, because of the hassle involved in getting estimates and fixing the problem. If a cost over-run happens, we promise to approach it honorably and not take advantage of you.

Construction Tips

Compare Apples to Apples in Construction Quotes

When getting quotes for a construction or remodeling project, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Ask all potential contractors to quote your remodeling project using the same construction materials as other contractors who are quoting. Not all building materials are the same - and some contractors use inferior products to slip in with the lowest bid.

Ask for photos of past construction work

Ask potential contractors for images of completed construction or remodeling projects that you can see. Don't be afraid to ask to speak to past references. If it's possible, visit a complete remodeling or construction site where you can see the quality and craftsmanship first hand.
